Ain't no need to shoot yourself in the foot

RIAA Toady #1: Y'know, our public image isn't quite low enough. I think we need to make a stronger effort in order to make people hate us.
RIAA Toady #2: I know, let's sue a bunch of people for $150,000 per song they've downloaded! We can nail a 12 year old girl for millions, I'm sure!
RIAA Toady #1: Oh great! And maybe some senior citizens who don't even know what an MP3 is!

anonymous says: People just need to get smart about spyware and use a program like Kazaa Lite. I'm not paying $15-20 for a CD and then find out I only like 2 songs on the entire disc. The artists I know I enjoy and consistantly put out good work, I will buy their CDs because I want to support their efforts. But these pop divas who can't carry a tune in a bucket without major electronic help don't deserve my money just because I like one song out of 12.

Rev says: That's why I like iTunes so much. I can preview any album and then JUST buy the songs I actually like. For a buck each. Everybody wins. Interesting that while file trading volume went down 20%, cd sales fell another 9%. That indicates to me that the problem isn't file trading, it's crap music and overpriced CDs.
