Cold coffee and cocaine

The best coffee chain in the world. Even Consumerist likes it! It is one of about 6 things I actually miss about living in Hell A. I like Starbuck's. I think the Frappuccino's are great, particularly the bananas and creme. But they are such a sad, pale, and dull imitation of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's incredible Ice Blended's that it isn't even fair to compare the two.

L says: Hawaii aside, it seems this chain favors the same strategy of limiting their marketing region as In 'n' Out Burger. After scrolling a list of where they are in LA, I'd be interested to see a map of both CBTL and Starbucks locations. There must be some intersections where there are two of each store.

rev says: Wow, I had no idea they had so many locations! Back when I lived in L.A. I was only aware of 3 of them, though there might have been more outside the West L.A./Santa Monica/Hollywood bubble I lived in. In the areas that had a CB and a Starbuck's anywhere near each other, the CB invariably did more business. I seem to recall Starbucks gave up on their Sunset Strip location that they opened to compete with CB after about a year when it was clear they weren't even close.
