Primal tribal apple egg vegetable eel

I am very tired. I'm reasonably sure I am not making much sense these days.

Two new network admins started over at the webfarm this week. One a former marine, the other former Navy. They sit around and talk most of the time since they don't have network logins yet and it's pretty hard to admin a network you don't have access to. The inevitable debate of which branch of service is tougher came up. The stories kept going back and forth trying to top each other. Finally:

Marine: You know the Marines is a department of the Navy?
Navy: Really?
Marine: Yea, the Men's department

That was the end of that.

All out of luck like a duck, like a duck that died

I don't recall where I heard of this podcast, but I highly recommend Radio Nowhere with Christopher Laird. All kinds of great music in all different sorts of styles.

For some reason the Quackcast posts were all marked as unread in Reader and as I was glancing through this list and found two very interesting ones that I'd breezed over in the past. The first is a great example of the law of unintended consequences. As many actual doctors like to point out: if a 'alternative' cure claims to have no side effects, then it has no effect at all. Anything that is able to have an impact on your health in a positive way will have side effects or possible negative effects. Anyone who claims other is a liar or a fool*.

The other great Quackcast post explains his commitment to exposing SCAM modalities for what they are.

Hear the money rustle

One theory about Rupert And the WSJ that I haven't heard yet: Murdoch wants to control the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The most commonly referenced indicator of the state of the economy, regardless of how flawed the logic behind that is, certainly has to be something that was a consideration for Murdoch even if it were not a prime factor.

Just something to consider.

Dancin Fool

Over the weekend, while my wife was off at a diaper party (not the kind that David Vitter would be going to), I danced with my eldest daughter while the babies watched. And as a credit to her open mindedness and general strangeness, we danced to Frank Zappa. Bob in Dacron. Let's Move to Cleveland. Music for Guitar and Low Budget Orchestra. It was a lot of fun, and I enjoy exposing her to music she wouldn't normally hear at school or on kids shows or cds.
